About me
Hi there! I'm Gaby, a storyteller, memory hoarder, and kitsch collector from Manila with over a decade of experience in media and publishing.

When I was 12, I saw an ad in Total Girl magazine about a search for their very first Junior Editorial team. I typed out my application on a dusty family desktop, sent it using my dad's email address, and somehow managed to snag the role of Junior Managing Editor. The week I spent learning about pull-outs, blurb-writing, and photoshoot production at the Total Girl office was the most fun I'd ever had, and I just knew that I wanted to work in media when I got older.

Since then, I've been writing, editing, and strategizing for different organizations, brands, and publications. My last role as associate editor at CNN Life had me diving headfirst into Filipino culture, producing shoots and writing about everything from P-pop stars and indie music, to public school teachers and presidential debates. I believe that there's a story in even the most mundane topics as long as you know where to look and how to tell it.

You can find some of my bylines in L'Officiel Philippines, Vice Asia, Teen Vogue, Out of Print, The Beauty Edit, Inquirer.net, Spot.PH, The Philippine Star, and Rookie. Check out my portfolio here.

* I have a hard time throwing things away because I always think of them as physical proof of memories I've made. The images used on the website were taken by me, using a few of the many random items I've added to my collection of kitsch over the years. Thank you to Hannah Padilla for editing!
